Elbow Branch Joint

elbow branch jointback to other joints

An Elbow Branch Joint is the intersection of a pipe attached to the exterior of an elbow.

The attached pipe is inline with one of the openings of the elbow but can be adjusted both in the axial and lateral directions.

Parameter Constraints:

Joint Name:  name of this joint which is unique to this project or currently opened joints

Pipe OD: (Outside Diameter) must be a positive number

Pipe Wall: (Wall Thickness) must be a positive number, less than half Pipe OD

Elbow OD: must be a positive number

Elbow Radius: must be a positive number at least half of the Pipe OD

Axial Offset: any positive or negative value where the pipe remains in contact with the elbow.  If a negative axial offset is specified that is past the opposite end of the 90 degree elbow, a 180 degree elbow is assumed and drawn.

Lateral Offset: any positive or negative value where the pipe remains in contact with the elbow.

Joint Construction:

Because it would be very difficult to wrap a template around the elbow to cut a hole in it, only a surface joint is supported. If you want to cut a hole in the elbow: first cut the end of the pipe using a template, then hold the end of the pipe up against the elbow and draw around the interior or exterior of the pipe to create the cut line you want.

Creative Uses:

The pipe extends inline with the center of the elbow radius if the Axial Offset is set to the negative of the Elbow Radius.

Here Axial Offset=-5 and Elbow Radius=5
A lateral offset larger than the elbow pipe radius: Here Radial Offset is a large positive number.
